It's shocking how we went so quickly from the "Greatest Generation" to the present, and how the many accomplishments of that generation are being discarded - callously so, or worse.

On a lighter note, in a rare difference with with you I really like "daylight time" with more PM sun. I had a prof for course called "Determination of Time", and he never missed a chance to say that officially it is to be called "daylight time" because time is never saved. ;)

That is so, we cannot 'save' light. Just shift it a bit. I may have mellowed on this issue since I wrote this. And to your biggest point, in 80 years, we went from killing nazis to electing them.

BTW- I have an old cycling teammate, John Coyle, he medaled in short-track speedskating in Lillehammer, he's got a Ph.D in chronoception - how we view and manipulate time. a fine writer, I recommend his books.
