Under the Japanese Maple
A garden poem to take you into the weekend
The Buddha, legend says, found Enlightenment whilst sitting under a Bodhi tree for years and years in meditation. I did not find enlightenment, I don’t think, while I was taking a yardwork break sitting on a rock under a Japanese Maple in our backyard one day, but I did have a distinct sense that I could “hear” the colors of the sunlight streaming through the leaves. And no, there were no Woodstock enhancements going on. :-)
A few thoughts on our obligations to the natural world and I read the sonnet here.
Get outside and enjoy the green world. Not sure much longer it will be green. If this work resonates with you, I’d like to know in the comments. And you can always show appreciation with likes & shares & follows.
