Sonnet 253 – the Awe is Complete
Do you believe in awe? Of course you should.
‘Tis awesome that puts magic in our lives.
Whence four, you spoke with pixies in the wood.
At six, you danced with Pooh among bee-hives.
Your striped Hobbes did speak when you were eight.
And yet, by ten, much magic all had gone.
At twelve, enchantment doth evaporate.
I call on you today to seek new dawns.
Find such awe wherever travels take you.
A canyon, volcano, or a river.
A fluttery bat or a crawling shrew
All are wonders, all shalt make you quiver.
For the secret of eternal youth’s not prayer
Fain, pray to see the awesome everywhere.
I’m bringing sonnets back.©
