I suspect that while Shakespeare's sonnet 18 "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day" might be the first love sonnet ever written, people have always told the world how much they love their partner. I'm one of those people. You can find all my sonnet videos here.

both are Made Whole. No. 390
Is ever there a reason to leave home?
To wander freely through the woods and fields?
For all I want to see in twilight’s gloam
is my lover’s smile and I am healed.
    I am my beloved’s; I shout that out.
    For my beloved, I know she is mine.
    Our love ‘tis a fortress, a strong redoubt;
    I know she holds our love, a holy shrine.
What better could a man do for his soul
than find a love and cherish for all time?
For when two hearts combine both are made whole;
as both rejoice in their rare love sublime.
        There is no place I’d rather be than home.
        For with my love, my heart is ne’er alone.
